Beauty Tips

Actives

More is not always better. When using a strong exfoliating treatment, check the product directions before adding other acids or retinoids to the same routine.

Retinoids

Use retinoids at night. Start slowly if your skin becomes irritated, and make daytime sun protection part of the routine.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation comes after cleansing and before toner. Frequency depends on the product and how your skin responds, so follow the directions instead of assuming daily use is right for everyone.

Hydration Layering

Layer from lighter textures to richer ones. Watery toners and essences generally come before serums, creams and facial oils unless a product directs otherwise.

Skin Flooding

Hydrating mists, watery toners and essences can be layered before moisturizer when your routine needs more hydration. The goal is hydration, not simply adding more steps.

Sheet-Mask Nights

A sheet mask can be the hydrating treatment. A simple toner, mask and moisturizer routine may be enough without stacking every hydrating serum underneath it.

Facial Oils

Facial oil does not automatically mean nighttime only. Check the product directions. Some oils are designed for morning or evening use.

Winter Skincare

Cold-weather routines can lean toward gentle cleansing, hydrating layers, barrier-supporting ingredients and richer moisturizers.

Summer Skincare

Warm weather may call for lighter layers, but moisturizer does not automatically disappear from the routine. Sunscreen remains the final daytime skincare step.

Sunscreen

Look for broad-spectrum protection with SPF 30 or higher and water resistance. Reapply according to the product directions, especially when outdoors, swimming or sweating.

Facial Steaming

Keep facial steaming conservative and pay attention to how your skin responds. Heat may aggravate redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, eczema or very sensitive skin.

Microneedling

Microneedling is not an ordinary maximalist skincare night. Devices that penetrate living skin carry real risks, and FDA-cleared microneedling devices are not cleared for delivering cosmetics into the skin. Follow the device or provider instructions rather than adding a homemade post-treatment cocktail.
